My Bio

I first became interested in the Japanese culture and history while serving in the U. S. Marine Corps at various duty stations in the Far East in the late 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. As a young Marine, I eagerly investigated movie theatres showing the jidai-geki/chanbara/matatabi films and those shown in the form of television series or productions. I don't recall the title of the first film I saw but am sure it starred Toshiro Mifune. I began my 2d career in security as a member of Marine Corps Counterintelligence in 1966. I performed both active and passive operations while assigned in the Far East and Southeast Asia and served tours with both Naval Intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency while on active duty. When I retired from the military in 1977, I joined industry as a member of the security staff, Manager and finally Director of Security Services for various aerospace, electronics and defense corporations until I again retired in 2000. After that retirement I formed a California corporation, S-Cubed-I (Sensible Security Solutions, Inc.) to provide executive consulting services, specializing in counterintelligence and security countermeasures, to small government contractors involved in the highly complex world of the National Industrial Security Program. My wife Gail and I reside in the Folsom suburb of Sacramento, CA. I have over 350 video tapes and DVDs in my collection of Japanese films along with more than 1,000 miniature samurai/ninja figures (toy soldiers) which I also collect.
